Women in Cornwall

Women in Cornwall is an archive documenting the lives and achievements of women in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Women have made significant contributions to this region. We aim to foreground their stories, moving women from the margins of history to the centre.

The archive currently lists over 600 women and more than 1000 examples of their work. Women in Cornwall offers a compelling counterpoint to ideas of static and traditional regional histories, emphasising the richness and diversity of women’s lives in Cornwall, past and present.

Women in Cornwall runs as a community history hub, with contributions from historians, researchers, enthusiasts and people like you. Click here to suggest a new entry for the archive, submit your own research, or start a conversation.

Women in Cornwall is a core project of The Hypatia Trust.
