Short biography

The first wife of Edward Montague Compton Mackenzie, the writer, Faith Mackenzie was herself an author known for her novels and travel writing.

Full biography

She was an actress, often working under the stage name 'Faith Reynolds', up until she marryied Mackenzie in 1905.

From 1908-1909, the couple lived at Toy Cottage in Gunwalloe, Cornwall. From the 1910s to the mid-1940s, the Mackenzies lived mainly on islands: first Capri, then Guernsey, then Eilean Aigas and Barra, in Scotland. Latterly they lived at Denchworth Manor, near Wantage.

MacKenzie died in 1960.
