Short biography
A novelist, Armstrong was born at Nancealverne, Madron. She was the second daughter of Rev. John Armstrong, who became Rector of Dinder in 1856 and was the Prebendary of Wells from 1845 until his death in 1862, aged 51. Her mother was Mary Ann, elder daughter of Colonel John Scobell of Nancealverne, Madron. In 1878 when noted by Boase and Courtney in Volume III of the Bibliotheca Cornubiensis she was living at 15 Royal Terrace, Weymouth, Dorset. Boase and Courtney reference Armstrong as the author of five novels: Lilian (1873), Florence or loyal quand meme [A Cornish Story] (1873), Looking up or Nanny West and her grandson (1874), Phyllis Pengelley (1875), Dick Ford and his father (1875).
