Jill Paton Walsh was a novelist whose books were influenced by her childhood love of St Ives.
Full biography
Walsh moved with her mother and siblings from London to live with grandparents in St. Ives, Cornwall, when she was three years old, to escape the bombing of London during World War II. In 1944, after her grandmother had died, Bliss returned to London. Some of her books are set in Cornwall.
