Short biography

An author and Trusted Friend of the Hypatia Trust, Hodgkin was born in London to Thomas Hodgkin, journalist and author, and Nancy Isobel Myer, an artist who had previously been married to the novelist Lawrence Durrell. Her greater family included the author L.V. Hodgkin and the Fox family of Falmouth.

She studied at Oxford and LSE and lived for 20 years at The Lizard with her Canadian husband, Derrek, until their separation in 2002. She is on the Trusted Friends Council of the Hypatia Trust.

Many of her books were set in Cornwall. A large archive of fiction manuscripts was lodged at Newmill’s Jamieson Library, Penzance, and is now part of the collections of the Hypatia Trust.

Hines now lives in London and is engaged in writing the biography of her late mother.
