Loveday Jenkin is a biologist, politician, and a campaigner for the Cornish language. She is the daughter of Ann Trevenen Jenkin and Richard Jenkin.
Jenkin has been a member of Cornwall Council since 2011 and since 2021 has served as the councillor for Crowan, Sithney and Wendron. From 1990-1997 she was the head of Mebyon Kernow,
She attended Helston Grammar School, and studied botany and biochemistry at Cardiff University, before completing a doctorate in plant biochemistry the University of Cambridge. In the 1980s and 1990s, Jenkin worked as education officer for Cornwall Wildlife Trust. She was a lecturer for the University of Exeter at the Camborne School of Mine
She became a bard of the Gorsedh Kernow in 1982, taking the name Myrgh an Tyr, 'Daughter of the Country'.
